Let me set the tone for this post with my Pin of the Day… Alright so I will just start at the beginning. The beginning is better than the end. I will break my day up into meal times because I have to explain a few things. Here’s what I ate today…
Breakfast: I knew I would be eating badly at dinnertime because we were hosting a Super Bowl party for the youth group from my church so, I ate breakfast at home instead of eating at church. I had a Delights breakfast sandwich and coffee. I eat these a lot because they are fast, healthy, and yummy. I get the whole wheat english muffin with egg, cheese, and canadian bacon ones. I take off the canadian bacon because I’m weird about meat. Then I had to run to Target before church to grab a couple of things so I got a grande skinny mocha from Starbucks. Not ideal but better than the full fat version for sure.
Lunch: I quickly scarfed down a bowl of leftover chicken taco soup from last night and had some water. Against my better judgment I caved to the kids request and got them Happy Meals from McDonald’s because I was trying to make it to the gym by 1. I couldn’t shake the image of the mechanically separated chicken I posted a while back. It made it very easy for me to NOT order something for myself. I was happy to see that McD’s downsized the size of the fries and include apples in every meal now. That made me feel slightly better.
After lunch I actually went to the gym with Mary and ran/walked a couple of miles. We are using the Couch to 5K program. We alternated running and walking for about 30 minutes and did a 5 minute warm-up. Then we were feeling peppy so we went and did 3 sets of push ups and some sort of oblique workout with a 6 pound ball.
Dinner: This is where it goes TERRIBLY WRONG. Three words SUPER BOWL PARTY. I just ate with reckless abandon. It was bad and I got really full. My tummy got all puffed out like I was about 5 months pregnant. I compared belly’s with my friend Karma who is 8 months prego and I nearly won folks. I had cheese dip, chips, chili, chips, lots of cheese on my chips, buffalo chicken on lettuce with yogurt ranch, more chili, more cheese dip, more chips, one strawberry, and one piece of pinapple (yea, that makes it all better right). Gosh, very dissapointed in myself. I even had two sodas and zero water. It’s no wonder I have a headache right now and I feel about six pimples forming under my greasy exterior. Ugh!
I’m gonna shake it off…OMG you will never believe this! As I was typing “Ugh!” My husband comes in and says “Ya know…for being the Super Bowl…I really didn’t eat that bad”. I just laughed in disbelief and he’s all like what and then I explained. He just continued telling me how good he was without skipping a beat. He is so loving and supportive (italics indicate sarcasm).
I will start anew tomorrow and file this away to pull out on days when I want to eat more than I should. I will remember how I feel which is…bloated and sort of like I have food lodged in my throat, like my workout today is null and void, and like the left side of my brain is in a vice grip
Just keep swimming…just keep swimming…I WILL do better tomorrow.
