We had a really fun family day today. It started off at the Botanical Gardens of the Ozarks. We had a homemade apple turnover from the Farmer’s Market, rode the train, and played in the children’s garden. This was our first visit and we were pleasantly surprised. The girls followed the birds feet over the bridge to the top of the tree to a life sized birds nest, climbed in the hole at the base of the tree to play, and then to the top of the barn for a nice view of the entire grounds. It was a great time. I would recommend it to anyone. I can only imagine how beautiful it must be in the spring when the flowers are in bloom.
I was so excited when I saw the Daisy Head Maize statue since I wanted my Mazie to be that for Halloween. I lost out to a fish, but that’s okay. Madeline had fun running over the bridges, through the tunnels, and through all of the fun exhibits.
Madeline peeped through the secret garden, we walked the trails, and even ran into our friends the Mears family. Here is a picture of their sweet scientist Jakey (Jacob)!
After the Botanical Gardens, it was off to ‘The Little Craft Show‘ at Fayetteville Town Center. It was really awesome. It was similar to the Boutique Show in that they hand select vendors, but it is insanely skilled handmade artisans – very unique and trendy gifts. I will definitely go every year from here on out. The only thing that damped the experience was the 30lbs of dead weight in the form of a sleeping Mazie that I carried around the entire time.
After that we popped in Riffraff, ate lunch at Hugo’s, let Phil check out the goods at Guitar Center, and had Cold Stone ice cream. If that wasn’t enough fun for one day, Phil blew up the jump house when we got home so the kids could play with their friends and we could talk to ours. It was a pretty perfect day!
