So, here is the thing. My fat jeans are tight and I intend to do something about it. Problem is, that requires eating right and the most dreaded exercise. I hate it a lot. I think I hate it so much because it requires you to change clothes, and shower, and stuff. It’s really a hassle. Plus, I would much rather use that precious hour or so to start an art project or something. Nonetheless, I have decided to commit to operation hot bod and I am happy to report I will be bringing you along (should you choose to accept, that is).
I am 32 years old, stand 5’5, and weighed 140lb after all the holiday feasting and two glasses of water. My goal is to get fit, not just skinny. Currently, I consider myself what is called “skinny fat”. To the public I appear fairly skinny but naked I appear very soft and flabby because well, I am very soft and flabby. I have little to no muscle tone. Even my calves have a slight muffin top when I wear trouser socks. I want to get in shape and be all glowy and feel like a million bucks. But, the most pressing and biggest motivation currently is that I want to look smoking hot for my 10-year anniversary trip to Playa Del Carmen this June. I also have promised boudoir photos to my husband before I start looking old. There is a place in Fayetteville called Noir Vogue that does some real nice ones. They even airbrush your lumpy spots out. Sweet! So, I am planning to get those done while I am looking all hot. Here is how I’m going to do it…
I would like to weigh a toned and very non-jiggly 120lb by June 1, 2012.
OMG so I have to loose 20 lbs in 5 months. So that’s 20/5 equals 4 lbs per month. Well, that’s 1lb per week and that is totally doable. Ok, no big moving on.
I will exercise at least 3…ok, ok 5 days a week. I have said it before. I hate exercising! My husband is a very dedicated exerciser. I know this because his grunts and groans from the living room wake me up at 5 am every morning. I share this because he has been trying to get me to try his programs. He uses P90X and Insanity. I am still not sold on them because they are real hard and last like an hour. I have done a program called Chalean Extreme and may use that again. I like her and she doesn’t make me mad like those peppy perky chicks. I am not good at aerobic/step/dance type workouts because I can’t seem to get it all together. The perky skinny chick is all like do this, now add this, now turn. Then on top of it all, once she adds all the moves, she starts adding a little hip action and jumpy moves. That just infuriates me because I’m barely keeping up to begin with, and I’m all like you can kiss my grits Peppy Pepperson; and that’s when I turn it off because I feel I can’t possibly be getting a good workout just flailing about. I know I just went on a rant about dance type workouts but…I also plan to go to Zumba with my neighbor from time to time. I am by no means good at Zumba but it’s so dang funny. I do actually kind of hurt the next day and the instructors don’t make me want to punch them in the face, so that’s good. I also want to start doing Couch to 10K. I have no intention of running a 10k, in fact, my motto for the longest time was “I only run if a bad guy is chasing me”. I might even try out some of those exercise plans on Pinterest. You know the quickie ones you see all over. The idea is that I must do something to keep active! Each week I will let you know what exercises I did and what I really thought of them.
I am going to go with the eat every 3-4 hour plan. Currently I have coffee for breakfast, no snacks, and not so healthy lunches and dinners. I need to be better about eating breakfast because by 9 am I am so hangry (the state of hunger caused by lack of food; hunger causing a negative change in emotional state) I scare even myself sometimes. My plan is to eat a healthy breakfast, lunch, and dinner with healthy snacks when I get hungry throughout the day. I really will be paying attention to portion size because I know I have been eating way more than a standard portion size. Here is a handy chart that I hung on my fridge to help me.
There is a lady named Tosca Reno who has several books about “eating clean”. I plan to follow my own version of her advice from the book “The Eat Clean Diet Recharged”. I will be sharing lots more info about how to eat healthy and unfortunately I’m sure I will be sharing times when I fall off the wagon. I do believe that a healthy diet is key for looking and feeling my best. You should understand though when I say diet I don’t mean I will eat right until I get to my goal then eat crappy again. I think it’s really important to change your eating habits for life and not get on that dreaded yo-yo diet cycle. I really think that does more harm than good.
So that’s the plan, the fun is in getting it done. I will be sharing with you the things that I already know and all the new things I learn about living a healthier lifestyle. I’m hoping to hear lots of comments and tips about all the things I could improve on and hope you learn a little something too! Check back next week to see what I’ve been up to.
