My list of motivation keeps growing and growing and even despite that, I didn’t want to get off the couch and hit the treadmill today. I got to thinking about all the reasons I wanted to get healthy and how by not doing it I am only cheating myself. I thought about all the reasons I wanted to get in shape in the first place. Which are…
- To get bikini ready for our trip to Mexico in June
- To get healthy so I can feel and look better.
- To get in shape for Warrior Dash (yes, I’m doing it)
- To look good for a modeling gig for a local dress designer in June.
- Having results to post for my blog.
So after pondering all of that for a while I got up and jumped on the treadmill. It made me think of this picture I found on Pinterest. I walked/jogged for 25 min or 1.55 miles, and burned 205 calories. It’s better than nothing right. I had a list of things to do and not much time to do them in and I chose to exercise. Yay me! That has never happened before. I put my earbuds in and took off. I didn’t even change clothes just rocked it in my jeans. Also, I discovered doing the running man is way funner on a treadmill. I highly recommend it. Hope my neighbors weren’t watching cause I was really busting a move out there. After I finished, besides feeling sweaty and out of breath, I felt GREAT! So great, in fact I am looking forward to the next time. If you are struggling with motivation you should check out this link. It helped me get going in those first few days. I have been at this for 2 weeks now and have lost somewhere between 6-9 pounds depending on when I weigh myself. I will start weighing at the same time of day so I can report more accurately next week. You should know that I am not starving myself. If I am hungry I eat. I am just paying close attention to portion size and food groups. For each meal or snack I try to pair a protein with a complex carb. I learned that after reading a book called “The Eat Clean Diet Recharged” by Tosca Reno. I am far from mastering it though.
And as always, here’s what I ate today. Keep in mind I worked night shift last night so it will seem goofy.
Breakfast (4:00am): Special K breakfast bar
Slept from 7:45am until 1:45pm
Snack: Pistachios and water
Dinner: You know how people tell you not to go all day without eating because when you do you eat way too much. I can assure you that is a true story. For dinner I had a beer, small greek salad, and 2 slices of cheese pizza from Mellow Mushroom. And then we went to Braums where I had a junior size chocolate Heath Bar mix. My husband gave a gallant effort in trying to steer me away from the ice cream but if you know me at all you know that once I want something bad enough chances are high I will get it.
I would love for some of you to share what motivates or even what discourages you. Maybe we can help each other out a little.
January 19th, 2012
If you don’t already know…I am a night shift nurse so 6 days a month my schedule is C.R.A.Z.Y. So, today (Thursday) I rested most of the day because I had to go to work Thursday night at 7:00pm and then get home at 7:00am on Friday. So, I pooped out on exercising today. I didn’t do anything real exciting so I don’t have any fun ideas or thoughts to share so I will just tell you what I ate…
Breakfast: Whole wheat english muffin with peanut butter and a smidge of honey and as always coffee.
Lunch: Panerra half a turkey sandwich with a cup of french onion soup and water.
Snack: Handful of Cheerio’s.
Dinner: Spaghetti and green beans
11:00pm at work: Leftover spaghetti and green beans
Hmmm let me think. I am writing this a day late because I got all busy yesterday finishing some paintings and starting my new Facebook page called “Angela’s Art” please feel free to go ahead and LIKE it. Here’s my best effort at what I ate yesterday…
Breakfast: Egg whites with diced tomatoes and half of a whole wheat english muffin. Coffee
Snack: Even if I had one I wouldn’t remember.
Lunch: Leftover chicken taco salad and water
Dinner: Uhhhh, oh yes. Let me start out by saying I tried. My husband was out of town and I was major grumpy and tired so I decided to take the kids out to dinner. We went to McAlister’s because they had this cool choose two for 500 calories menu. I spent about 20 minutes online deciding just what to get and it was hard because not all the combinations were under 500 calories. Finally, I decided on a garden salad and half of a cheesy potato because it stayed under the 500 calorie rule. Well, I’ll be darned if McAlister’s didn’t give me a whole potato. So of course I ate it all. Then, I got the kids some kids some kids meals that came with a giant cookie. Being the good mom that I am I decided it wasn’t healthy for the kids to eat the whole cookie so what did I do….yep, I ate a chunk off each of one. Gosh!
I did do some Zumba today. I’m getting better but still trip over my feet more than I probably should. I’ve been thinking though….I don’t think Zumba is going to get it done. I want to amp it up a little. So here’s what I’m thinking. I, Angela Grear, am (seriously thinking about) signing up for Warrior Dash. Warrior Dash is a 3 mile run with obstacles mixed in every 1/2 mile or so. My husband is doing it and asked me to do it with him. Ha, I should say, do the Warrior Dash with him. There is a training schedule on the Warrior Dash site that I plan to follow. But, instead of doing their running thing I will do Couch to 5k. My neighbor Mary is my partner in crime and will be participating with me, training and all. I am nervous but I am going to be brave. No pain no gain…right. I am daring you to join me in doing the Warrior Dash. I am doing the one in Oklahoma on June 2nd. Please leave a comment and let me know if you sign up. If lots of people sign up because of me then I will definitely have to follow through with this.
Well, today was a pretty good day. Except lunch. Here’s what I ate today.
Breakfast: Half of a whole wheat english muffin with a schmear of PB and a greek yogurt. And coffee, of course.
Lunch: First let me say I had pizza left over from dinner last night. Second let me say I was totally distracted getting my “Angela’s Art” Facebook page together. Third let me say I mindlessly ate 3 pieces of pizza and drank water. I didn’t eat the crust…that’s good…right??
Snack: Maybe some grapes.
Dinner: A delicious and healthy chicken taco salad and green tea.
Green Tea has all sorts of benefits, see….. It also has zero calories and no carbs. I added a little stevia though. I’m proud to say I did a little Zumba today. I got there a little late and had to be in the front row. That was terrible. I don’t understand how I can be doing the same moves as the Zumba instructor and look like a dork while she looks all cute and sexy. Well, I guess I do know the answer to that…she is WAY better at it than me. Guess that means I will just have to keep at it. In addition to Zumba I came home and did an arm routine. Why you say……
Time for a quick test!
Wave wildly like you are seeing a long lost friend………………..ok now STOP………………………. If your arm is still waving after you have stopped you may want to try this arm workout.
These are the art projects that keep Angela busy. Let’s see….she’s a mom, nurse, funny girl blogger, entrepreneur, and an artist. SUPER MOM!! Show her some love and LIKE her new Facebook page to stay up to date on her latest projects. She does custom orders so give her a shout.
